The Definition

When potentially harmful chemicals (oxybenzone comes from most spray sunscreens), particles, industrial waste (oil), agricultural waste (rotted plants), residential waste, or the spread of invasive organisms wind up in the ocean they are contributing to marine pollution. 80% of marine pollution comes from land-based activities, in simpler terms, us humans.
